What is Dysport?
Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription injection for the temporary improvement in the look of moderate to severe lines between the eyebrows in adults that are less than 65 years of age. Dysport, also known as botulinum toxin type A, is created by the bacteria that causes botulism.
How Dysport Works
After time skin begins to lose elasticity, and repeated movement and muscle contractions can cause moderate to severe wrinkles between the eyebrows. Dysport is injected into five points between and above the eyebrows, which in turn prevents muscle contractions that cause moderate to severe lines – and all within a 10 to 20-minute treatment.
How Long Dysport Lasts
There’s minimal to no downtime after treatment, meaning you can get back to your daily activities faster. Most patients who use Dysport report improvement in frown lines in just two or three days after their treatment. Dysport has been proven to help improve the look of frown lines between the eyebrows for up to four months.
Common Side Effects of Dysport
Muscle weakness at or near the site of injection
Injection site irritation (Swelling, redness, bruising or bleeding)
Refrain from Dysport Treatments if You:
• Are allergic to Dysport or any of its ingredients
• Are allergic to cow’s milk protein
• Have had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product, such as Myobloc®, Botox®, or Xeomin®
• Have a skin infection at the planned injection site
• Are under 18 years of age
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
